 Thanks to All  Minimize

On behalf of the Hanna Roundhouse Restoration Project, I would like to ALL the supporters who took time out of their day to vote & comment to try to get this project into the AVIVA Community Fund contest!!!  We had amazing feedback from all over North America & rumors of comments even from the UK!  I think we should all be proud of our little prairie town of 3000 people; according to the AVIVA VP of Brand & Customer Experience, there were over 2004 ideas, of which the Hanna Roundhouse Restoration Project placed 28th!!  I think this was an amazing feat!!  What a "train ride"!  And, we even crashed their system with all the fantastic comments!

Although we did not advance into the semi-finals, we received so much exposure & input regarding our project which we would never have experienced otherwise; we received ideas for the project from all over the country, emails for future reference & historical information from people with fond memories!  All of the comments from the contest have been kept & will be considered in future planning with the project.  But, most of all, we received support & acknowledgement of this project in our little prairie town!!  This is something we could never have received if it hadn't been for AVIVA's contest!

Although we are finished with the contest, we have only begun with this project!  With the feedback & supportive comments from the AVIVA Community Fund contest, we will continue with so much more than when we started!  We now have a network of interest across North America & interest has been stirred in our town like I haven't seen for a long time!  A seed of curiosity has been planted with some students based on comments from students.  We are so much richer than we know!!

We are developing a website which should be available in the near future to continue the dialogue started with the AIVIA contest.  We will apply for grants & make presentations to groups looking to invest in projects such as ours.   We will continue to make contact with associations of railroad enthusiasts in search for steam engines & rail cars to store in our restored roundhouse & for rail cars & steam engines which we may display on loan from other organizations.  We will search for groups wanting to set up a restoration shop in the roundhouse.  We will gather historical information from our seniors, & be anxious for student work which could be included in historical displays.

We will continue forward with the same goal as we had when we started with the AVIVA contest; having an open house in conjunction with Hanna's centennial birthday in 2012.  We are just getting started & this contest has been a huge stepping stone for us & for Hanna!  Thank you AVIVA!

Experiencing the contest was an amazing train ride!!  One, I'm confident we'll experience many times over!  Please stay tuned to the www.hanna.ca website for the announcement of the Hanna Roundhouse Restoration Project website.

Sincerely,
Sandra Beaudoin
