In the past two years, there have been several expressions of interest regarding development (hotels, campgrounds, industrial subdivision, car lot) in the area of the Highway #9/Palliser Trail intersection.  To date, servicing in this area has been done on a development by development basis and the existing infrastructure is not sized for additional development.  Therefore, the Town of Hanna has completed an analysis of the infrastructure servicing for this area in order to provide a frame work for a comprehensive plan to service the area in a cost effective manner.  There are a number of stakeholders who have a vested interest in servicing the area.  Buy in from these stakeholders was essential to the success of the plan.  The Town of Hanna requested that MPE Engineering Ltd. complete a servicing study to determine the most cost effective and viable mans to service the area.

The existing water and sanitary sewer systems are inadequate to meet the servicing requirements for the area.  MPE Engineering Ltd. has completed a review of a couple of options to provide sanitary sewer service into the area, but no analysis has been completed for water supply.  A brief review will also be completed regarding the feasibility of incorporating the area along South Municipal Road and Pioneer Trail info the Highway#9/Palliser Trail sanitary service area.
