Updates for Fri Apr 24
Utility Billing Deferral
Recognizing that some citizens may be facing difficult financial times, Council directed Administration to extend the due dates of the Jan/Feb and the Mar/Apr utility bills. Full Details can be found here.
Pre-Authorized Monthly Payments
If you are paying your utility or tax bills using monthly payments, you now have the option of suspending those payments. Even though you may elect to remove yourself from having monthly payments taken directly from your bank account, you are encouraged to continue making payments either partial or full through your bank, post dated cheques or credit card online. Details on how to make this request can be found here:
Everyday Heroes
Volunteers deserve gratitude now, more than ever. Every day, we see examples of citizens going above and beyond during this crisis. The Province of Alberta has announced a new Volunteer Recognition Program they call the Alberta Northern Lights Volunteer Program. Be sure to visit the website for this program and nominate one of the many amazing groups or individuals in Hanna & area today. It’s a simple form to complete.
Alberta Cares
This week, Dr. Hinshaw announced the launch of the Alberta Cares Connector. This project unites volunteers with organizations who are looking for volunteers. Volunteer opportunities are listed and vary in nature from reading to children, sewing masks or volunteering to drive. You can check out these opportunities at their website but more importantly, watch for our very own version of Hanna Cares launching shortly.
