Boy, can things change in a hurry during a pandemic. Keeping up on all the changes and regulations is difficult at best. Directives and recommendations come in from all angles. The Provincial Government, the Federal Government, Professional Development Organizations, Regional Groups, different Health Zones, different Emergency Management Agencies, etc.
On Apr 30,2020 Premier Jason Kenny announced the provincial relaunch strategy strongly stating that each phase will be advanced after careful consideration. A number of grey areas have emerged since this announcement so until Council and Administration have had a chance to review the effects the various phases will have, the Town of Hanna will continue with the approach it has taken from the start which is to follow the directives of Alberta Health Services and the Government of Alberta and announcing to Hanna & area citizens how these directives impact our activities.
As of today, May 4, 2020 there are no changes to town of Hanna operations including outdoor recreation and playgrounds. Facilities remain closed until June 1 as per the motion at the April 14 Council Meeting, while playgrounds and outdoor recreation facilities (i.e. tennis courts, outdoor rink, skate park) remain closed. Administration and Council are reviewing the new Provincial relaunch strategy and if there is an opportunity to safely open (following Provincial and Federal guidelines) some facilities sooner than originally forecast, rest assured Council will give these opportunities strong consideration.
