On July 24, 2025 Hanna RCMP initiated an investigation into an assault where a male allegedly spat on another male at a residence in Hanna, AB

Matthew Schoonmaker, a 44 year-old male of Hanna, was charged with assault. following his arrest, Schoonmaker was released on an undertaking to have no contact with the alleged victims.

Schoonmaker is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on Sept 24, 2025.
