The following media releases have been provided to the Town of Hanna for distribution.
On May 25, 2025 Hanna RCMP received a report from a rural property owner that they had been approached by a male on May 20, 2025 offering paving services. The owner declined the paving work, however it is alleged that on May 24, 2025 the male applied paving material to the owner’s property regardless.
As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Douglas Welch, a resident of Strathmore, Alta., was arrested and charged with one count of Mischief over $5,000. Following his arrest, Welch was issued an undertaking with conditions not to have contact with the owners of the property.
Welch is next scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court Justice on Sept. 12 in Drumheller.
Break and Enter Investigation
On May 24, 2025 Hanna RCMP received reports of multiple break and enters from residents in Hanna. While investigating at one of the residences, an officer located a suspect in that home.
As a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Kevin Ozolins, a resident of Red Deer, Alta., was arrested and charged with one count of breaking and entering into a residence and two counts of mischief under $5,000.
Ozolins is next scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on Oct. 22.
