Local Supports are on Their Way

♦  Hanna Learning Centre is providing assistance with Employment Insurance applications and Coal Workforce Transition Program applications.  Starting today, Mar 30, 2020 citizens can book appointments by phoning (403) 854-2099.   HLC is offering extended hours starting at 7:45 am through to 7:30 pm.  The intent is to evaluate this service on a weekly basis.

♦  The Alberta Government is providing $30 million to provide help to individuals, seniors, families and other vulnerable Albertans who are isolated or impacted by measures to contain COVID- 19.  Through grants from Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta (FCSSAA) in conjunction with Hanna Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), funding will be distributed to local FCSS and community organizations.  These organizations will support a range of services needed from at-home help for seniors, crisis and helplines, food security issues, emotional and mental health counselling or any other identified community issues.

♦  Remember – the best way to prevent getting sick is to avoid being exposed.  It is critical that you take steps to protect yourself and others.

Take Steps to Protect Yourself

♦  Hand Washing for 20 seconds minimum after blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing, being in a public place.  If you are unable to wash your hands, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.  Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

♦  Avoid close contact with people who are sick.  DISTANCE.

Take Steps to Protect Others

♦  Stay home if you feel sick.  Local stores are great at working with customers so you don’t have to enter public spaces and risk spreading the virus.  If you MUST leave your house, wear a facemask.  Be sure to cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow and immediately throw the used tissue in the trash followed by immediate 20 second handwashing.

♦  Clean and disenfect frequently touched surfaces daily.  Tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks.  Be sure to clean dirty surfaces prior to disinfection.
