Town Council has approved Bylaw 1047-2026, amending the Municipal Public Utilities Bylaw to address rising operational costs. The Big Country Waste Management Commission’s 2026 requisition increased creating a budgeted shortfall of $42,700. To offset this, the fixed regional waste fee will rise from $44 to $51 per billing period, the first increase since 2019.
With these changes, the minimum residential utility bill will increase to $151 per billing period, while commercial properties will see an increase to a minimum of $140. All updated rates take effect immediately.
