Town staff have taken the advice of Otis and have been watching carefully for local Poop Fairies. Guess what! There are real humans with magical powers dealing with crappy situations. We want to recognize some of these fairies for going way above the call of doodie (see what we did there)?
This week we feature Taevia Morgan and Tikka. Otis and his friends are happy.
We recognize and thank you!
Dog Poop is Not Fertilizer
Not all poop is created equal. Dog waste, unlike cow manure, is not fertilizer. Dogs have a high protein diet that creates very acidic waste. Cow manure is good for vegetation because it started out that way. Dog diets are very different. Most dog foods today are composed of beef, chicken, and/or port products. This creates acidic waste that is not good for grass and can leave your backyard looking like, well, not looking like much of a yard at all. This is far more than you ever wanted to know about your favorite furry friend’s business, right? But it’s true.

Join the Club
These weekly reminders are intended to recognize a few of the loyal citizens who have been diligent in picking up after their pets throughout the year. Join the club! You do not have to be a pet owner. There are lots of parks and green spaces that could use a spring cleanup. If you’d like, pop into the Town Office and request a free waste bag container (while supplies last) that you can clip onto your bag or jacket. That way, you have one handy when you come across some leftover poop.
