Town staff have taken the advice of Otis and have been watching carefully for local Poop Fairies. Guess what! There are real humans with magical powers dealing with crappy situations. We want to recognize some of these fairies for going way above the call of doodie (see what we did there)?
This week we feature Tara Poole. Otis and his friends are happy.
We recognize and thank you!
That’s a Lot of Poop
The average dog excretes 3/4 of a pound of waste per day – or 274 pounds of waste per year! There are 278 dogs licensed in Hanna. That means that there is 76,102 pounds of dog waste deposited every year! That’s the equivalent of 54 average-sized cows. In 5 years, that’s the equivalent of 30 elephants or 8 tractor-trailers fully loaded with poop. Aren’t these facts staggering? No wonder our parks and green spaces can get messy!
Join the Club
These weekly reminders are intended to recognize a few of the loyal citizens who have been diligent in picking up after their pets throughout the year. Join the club! You do not have to be a pet owner. There are lots of parks and green spaces that could use a spring cleanup. If you’d like, pop into the Town Office and request a free waste bag container (while supplies last) that you can clip onto your bag or jacket. That way, you have one handy when you come across some leftover poop.
