Water & Waste Utility Deferral
Recognizing the financial hardships and uncertainty facing Hanna residents during this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Administration was directed at the April 14 Council Meeting to extend the due dates of Town Utility Bills.
What is a deferral?
When payment is deferred, it means that the customer does not have to pay within the usual agreed-upon payment period. It is important to note that this is not payment relief. The utility payments are still owing and payable and will continue to accumulate even though you defer to a later date. All this does is ensure that the Town of Hanna will not disconnect utility services during the time periods specified.
When do I have to pay?
The program is designed to provide temporary financial relief and customers will still have to pay for their utilities. To make payment arrangements, contact the Town Office. Citizens are encouraged to use the Provincial and Federal IncomeRelief programs available to continue paying their bills.
Jan/Feb Bills due Mar 31 are extended to Jun 30
Mar/Apr Bills due May 31 are extended to Aug 31
Please note: Accounts outstanding from 2019 and Jan/Feb 2020 are required to be paid in full by Jun 30.
What if I am on the pre-authorized payment plan?
Pre-authorized payments will continue as scheduled unless you formally request a temporary extension. Please complete this online Town of Hanna Payment Deferrals Form or phone the Town Office during business hours (403) 854-4433.
