Male Charged in Business Theft
On Oct. 1, 2024, Hanna RCMP received a report of an internal workplace theft by an employee of a Hanna business.
It was alleged that on Sept. 3, 2024, fees collected by the accused in the course of conducting business operations had been concealed from the business, thereby depriving the business of its earnings. The complainant also alleged that some equipment owned by the business had been stolen by the accused. As a result of the investigation, 43-year-old Brian Evers, a resident of Hanna, has been charged with two counts of theft under $5000.
Following his arrest, Evers was issued an undertaking to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on Nov. 27, 2024.
Male Charged in Uttering Threats Investigation
On Oct. 10, 2024, Hanna RCMP received a report from two males in the Youngstown area that they were approached the day prior by a male with a metal pipe who threatened to assault them with it. As a result of the investigation, 63-year-old Lyle Sutherland, a resident of Youngstown, Alta., was arrested and charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
Following his arrest, Sutherland was issued an undertaking with conditions not to have contact with the alleged victims and to not possess firearms and other weapons. Sutherland is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on Dec. 18, 2024.
