Volunteer Appreciation Nominations Open

March 13, 2024

Hanna has always taken great pride in having a very strong and involved community. Many of the programs and activities offered in the community would not be available if it weren’t for the many hours of time, commitment and expertise of volunteers.

Each spring, the Town of Hanna hosts event (s) to recognize volunteers. These events are always well supported and appreciated by those who attend. The 2024 Appreciation Event falls within Volunteer Appreciation Week and is scheduled to be held on Thurs April 18, 2024.

In 2023, the Wright family, formerly of Hanna, initiated the “Gordon and Bernice Pincome Community Volunteer Award” to remember the late Gordon and Bernice Pincombe and recognize them for their outstanding citizenship, inspiring volunteer efforts, and positive community engagement.

Throughout their lives, Gordon and Bernice donated countless hours to support local agencies, including the Royal Canadian Legion, the Women’s Auxiliary, and the Hanna Tourism Centre. The Wright family would like to keep their memory and inspiration alive by acknowledging other noteworthy citizens of Hanna and outlying area(s) who similarly display exemplary generosity toward others and dedication to serving the community.

Nominations for this recognition are now open and can be submitted naming individuals from Hanna and area including Special Areas # 2 of any age, who exhibit a dedication to serving their community (local or beyond) selflessly. The nomination deadline is Fri Apr. 5, 2024 and the recipient will be announced at the annual Volunteer Appreciation event in Hanna, scheduled to be held April 18, 2024. The nomination form and submission instructions can be found at hanna.ca/community or hanna.ca/forms.

The recipient for 2023 was Carol Orr.
