Are you or someone you know thinking about running in the 2025 Municipal Election? Every four years, Hanna residents can vote for one Mayor and six Councillors.
- Alberta’s official municipal election day is Monday, October 20, 2025. More information about how and where to vote in Hanna will be shared as the date draws closer.
- The Nomination period opened on January 1, 2025. Prospective candidates must schedule a time with the Town’s Returning Officer to submit completed forms.
**NEW*** Notice of Intent: New for the 2025 Municipal Election is the requirement to file a notice of intent. The Local Authorities Election Act requires an individual who intends to be nominated for election to give written notice to the local jurisdiction. All prospective candidates for Hanna’s municipal election must submit a Notice of Intent Form. Once the form is complete, please print and schedule a time to deliver your Notice of Intent to the Returning Officer.

Nomination Day: The deadline to file nominations papers is 12:00 noon on September 22, 2025, also known as Nomination Day. Nomination Forms and additional information will be posted on the Town’s website as it becomes available.
