From time to time, you may see a specialized police presence in Hanna or the surrounding area, including components of the RCMP’s Critical Incident Program, which includes members of the Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, negotiators, and other support units.
Sometimes, unfolding police incidents or pre-planned police operations may result in the presence of these specialized police units to enhance frontline police officer safety and public safety. These officers may be dressed differently than regular RCMP members, such as in all green, but with clearly visible “Police” markings. Their attendance to serious police incidents is to ensure that all reasonable measures are utilized to bring a resolution to a police incident.
In cases where there is an emergent risk to the public, the Hanna RCMP will utilize the national public alerting system known as Alert Ready, which requires no sign-up to receive notifications. Additionally, the Hanna RCMP will also utilize the RAVE mobile safety application, available in the Alberta RCMP mobile application or via its website. The RAVE mobile safety application sends text, email, and landline messages to users who are signed up to receive them.
