September 30th is the deadline to apply for the third cycle of the CSB Grant. This program, which has supported local non-profit organizations since 1986, helps groups deliver programs, special events, and activities that enhance recreational and cultural opportunities in the community.

“The Community Services Board has always had the criteria and the volunteers in place to be able to make a fair and impartial decision when it comes to funding requests.” stated Vern Thuroo, Hanna Council representative on the Community Services Board. “It just makes sense to increase their budget and redirect all the requests that come to Council, to the Board.”

Council provides an annual budget for this grant, which is awarded through an application process. Beginning in 2026, the grant will be offered three times per year, with submission deadlines on January 31, April 30, and September 30. Eligible non-profit organizations may apply for funding requests between $500 and $20,000. All requests for recreation or cultural support—including facility discounts—must first go through the Community Services Board Grant process before being considered by Council.

Grant Criteria:

  • Applicants must be non-profit organizations; priority is given to youth groups.
  • Funding is for specific projects, initiatives, or purchases—not general operating expenses.
  • Grants are based on financial need; applicants may be asked to provide financial documentation and disclose other funding sources.
  • Post-funding reports, including receipts, are required for future eligibility.

Funding criteria and requirements are established by the Community Services Board and can be found in the application guidelines. Applications must be submitted before the deadline date to the Town Office or electronically at hanna.ca/contact-us (General Inquiries).
